International Policy Commission
The International Policy Commission develops Labour policy on foreign affairs, international development and defence. Its current focus is on Britain’s security and defence priorities. It meets regularly to consider evidence and submissions, identify challenges, and develop Labour’s policy in these areas.
The Commission is currently leading a consultation on Britain’s security and defence priorities. This includes looking at emerging threats such as terrorism, cyberwarfare and nuclear proliferation, Britain’s security and defence capabilities, and how a Labour government would uphold our values across the world. The Commission’s work will be informed by Labour’s Defence Policy Review, led by Emily Thornberry, as well as by its own consultation. The Commission has published a short consultation document outlining the key challenges on this topic, and inviting submissions from the wider Labour Party and public.
